These are some of the pellet stove-related questions that our customers often ask.
Q: Do I need outside air for my pellet stove?
A: For most homes today outside air is not necessary, but in the blower door tested tight energy efficient homes it is recommended. Most homes have enough fresh air available to the pellet stove that this extra expense is not needed. We have found that it is easier on your stove and your pellet fuel supply to utilize room temperature air as opposed to the dry frigid air outdoors. Heating 72* air is easier to bump up to a higher temperature, quicker and less work for your stove to do so.
Q: Why are Harman auto-ignition stoves better than others?
A: Other brands of pellet stoves offer auto-ignition, but Harman’s “Smart” technology does much more than simply light pellets. The onboard microprocessor is constantly sensing room temperature and automatically increases or decreases the stove’s heat output so that your living area is kept at a comfortable, constant temperature. Harman’s auto-ignition stoves will actually turn themselves off when no heat is required and then relight when heat is needed. This fully automatic feature saves your pellet fuel and prevents overheating your living area during the spring and fall when temperatures are warm during the day and cooler at night.
Q: All pellet stoves go by square feet ratings – How are they determined?
A: They should be provided for the region of the country that you reside it. It takes a larger heat output to keep a room a comfortable 72* in Montana than it does in Georgia, right? Factors such as climate, heat loss, insulation levels and air movement within your home greatly affect the area that can be heated. Generally the warmer the climate the greater the area the stove can heat. Beware of inflated square foot ratings by other manufacturers. We recommend that you discuss your heating needs and your homes construction with an authorized dealer to determine the best model suitable for your application.
